Ook voor de film- en televisie-industrie zijn er heel wat logo's fysiek geproduceerd om deze te kunnen filmen. Sommige tv-stations en filmstudio's gingen nog verder en ontwierpen fysieke driedimensionale logo's om speciale effecten te creëren. Waarschijnlijk is de beroemdste van MGM: Leo the Lion, welke voor het eerst in 1916 verscheen. https://youtu.be/ue7MbfcW6nE Leo the Lion is dé mascotte voor de Hollywood-filmstudio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer en één van zijn voorgangers, Goldwyn Pictures. In de loop der decennia zijn er zeven verschillende leeuwen opgenomen. Alleen de zevende leeuw wordt Leo genoemd. Leo is verreweg MGM's langst gebruikte leeuw en verscheen sinds 1957 in de meeste MGM-films. Er zit een leuk Nederlands tintje aan: hij is geboren in de Royal Burgers Zoo in Arnhem! In de jaren 60 stond de dierentuin wereldwijd bekend om het leeuwenfokprogramma. Leo was ook de jongste toen MGM hem verfilmde voor gebruik in het MGM logo (vandaar zijn veel kleinere manen). Om de publiciteit voor de filmproducties te verhogen, werd in het jaar 1927 de leeuw als 'Leo the MGM Flying Lion' in de Verenigde staten rondgevlogen. Er werd speciaal voor de leeuw een vliegtuig aangepast met tanks voor water en extra brandstof, en een kooi om de leeuw veilig te vervoeren. Het vliegtuig verongelukte tijdens een vijf uur durende vlucht van San Diego naar New York in de woestijn van Arizona. Gelukkig overleefden de inzittenden de crash. De piloot Martin Jenson liet, voordat hij hulp ging zoeken, de leeuw opgesloten in de kooi met een rantsoen van melk, water en broodjes. Na vier dagen werd Martin gevonden en naar een telefoon gebracht. Hij belde MGM en hun eerste vraag was: hoe gaat het met de leeuw? Deze is slechts voor drie films gebruikt. Hierna werd toch weer teruggegrepen op het oude logo.
